A Guide To Create A Happy Feng Shui Home

Feng Shui is an ancient body of knowledge that attempts to harness the positive energy of a person's environment for his benefit. As per Feng Shui, every object in the universe, whether it is animate or inanimate, has energy. The aim of Feng Shui is to balance the energy exuded by the different constituents of our surroundings so as to create a place where we feel happy and at peace.

If there are certain spaces within your house that make you feel uneasy, you may want to check the Feng Shui of that space. If the Feng Shui of your house is correct, you will lead a peaceful, happy and prosperous life. While the Feng Shui of each house is different, there are some general principles that apply to every Feng Shui home:

  • Entrance To The House-
  • Make the entrance to your home as inviting as possible. You can do this by incorporating a curving pathway with an abundance of foliage. Your garage door should not be more prominent than your main entrance. Provide sufficient illumination to the pathway during the night.

  • Living Room-
  • Arrange the furniture in an aesthetically appealing manner. They should be easily accessible. The couches and chairs should be comfortable. They should be placed in such a manner that the persons are seated while facing the entrance. Avoid placing the television in a prominent spot.

  • Dining Room-
  • Use round or circular tables. Avoid glass and metal table tops. The chairs should be of the same size. The food should be placed on the table in such a manner that it should be accessible to all who are seated. Preferably, use white plates.

  • Kitchen-
  • The entrance to the kitchen should be visible to you when you are cooking. The kitchen should be kept as clean and clutter-free as possible. Avoid placing the stove opposite to a washing machine, refrigerator, washbasin or toilet as this may lead to discord amongst the family members. Use all the burners of the stove. Do not keep knives in the open. Store them in cupboards or shelves.

  • Bedroom-
  • Place the bed in the corner that's diagonally opposite to the door. Do not sleep in line with the door. Use a headboard made of wood. Use furnishings of warm soothing earth colors or light shades to create a calm and serene atmosphere. Avoid placing a television or computer in the room. Hang pictures signifying love and romance. Open the bedroom windows for at least 20 minutes each day.

  • Children's Room-
  • Avoid letting the children sleep on a mattress on the floor. Do not let them sleep in double bunk beds in order to save space. This may affect the health of the child who's sleeping below. If children fall ill frequently, hang a six-rod metal wind chime. Seat the children with their back to the wall when they are studying. This results in enhanced concentration.

  • Bathroom-
  • Place a divider between the bathroom and bedroom. Do not clutter the bathroom sink, countertop or the edge of the tub. Always leave the toilet seat down when it is not in use. Always close the bathroom door.

By following the above suggestions, you can create a Feng Shui home devoid of stress and filled with good health and good fortune.
